Meet Ibsahu

Ivor Edmonds, MHA, YACEP, C.Qg, Reiki M, Sága Co-Founder

Ivor Edmonds is the given name that was passed down through generations from Ivor’s grandfather to his father, his father to him, and then Ivor to his son.

“Ivor” means “archer” or “bow warrior.”

Ibsahu (pronounced “Eeb-sah-who”) Pernebsati is the name given to Ivor during his initiatic journey with the Dogon, as a student of Kemetic culture at the Earth Center.

“Ibsahu” means “Wisdom of the Orion.” The constellation Orion, visible in the night sky as though poised with a bow and arrow, is also known as “The Hunter.”

Both names, auspiciously similar in meaning, hold deep significance for the man who has dedicated his career to addressing wellness and trauma healing in oppressed and marginalized populations.

Ibsahu (Ivor Edmonds, MHA) is a trauma-informed systems builder and master practitioner who has two decades of experience working with gangs and troubled youth, homeless populations, victims of violent crime, veterans, survivors of trauma and rape, addicts, the mentally ill, and seniors.

He holds a Master of Applied Healing Arts from the Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly the Tai Sophia Institute) and certifications as a Pilates and Qigong instructor, a Master of Gendai Reiki Ho, a Level II Usui Reiki Healer, an E-RYT 200 and YACEP-certified Vinyasa Yoga instructor.

Ibsahu has created and implemented many programs integrating traditional healing methods in modern contexts. He has led corporate wellness programs and seminars at Tewksbury State Hospital, MIT, Boston Medical Center, St. Francis House, Boston Public Schools, Oberlin College, Harvard Divinity School’s Reiki Association (2006), Action for Boston Community Development, Veronica B. Smith Senior Center, Scott Farrar, and the City of Boston Fitness Series. He also ran his own wellness and yoga studio in Brighton, called Taireiki Wellness, from 2016-2019.

Ibsahu currently resides in Peterborough, NH with his wife, Brianna, and their two children, and serves on the board of directors of The River Center. He teaches at Club Pilates Bedford and hosts transformative private and group wellness retreats.
